Gjemal Ereni’s house (Prizren)

Xhemajl Hereni’s House is located in the western part of the city, in the neighbourhood of Tailors, in the protected zone. The front is oriented towards east. The house is located at the intersection of the main and the side road. in its vicinity is Terzi-Mahala Mosque, Madrasah “Alauddin” and some traditional houses. The house was built in the XIX century. Foundations and part of the ground floor are built of stone, while the walls of mud. Constructions within interstitial space are wooden. Four guttered roof covered with traditional tiles and Badza. Doors and windows are wooden. The doors have handles and are made of iron. The house has rectangular layout. It's two-story with open lobby type across in the front of the house, made of wood. The house faces the yard. Access to the house is from the street through the wooden front door. i by t is entered into the house from the porch holding on pillars. On the ground floor there are two rooms, porch and stairs to the floor. On the floor, there are two bedrooms and porch. Attic in the lobby and rooms are made of wooden decks and “bottle” attic laths. In one room, the ceiling has octagon shaped rosette. Several repairs were made in the house changing its original appearance. Within the house, there is a yard and mutfak –open kitchen. Today the house is still habitable. It has historical and architectural value. It is a rare lobby type monument throughout Kosovo.
