History

The house of Hyjniler Family belongs to town houses type built by the end of the 18th century and early 20th century. The central part of the house is divanhanja which is reached from ground floor through semi-circular wooden stairs. Divanhanja is presented in the extracted part on the corner of the main facade. From divanhane is entrance to all rectangular rooms. The building has two floors, the ground floor and the first floor, partly with wood structure filled with mud-brick. The main part of the facade contains wood windows in horizontal line, which provide lighting to all interior spaces. The roof four sided, covered with traditional tiles. Rooms are rich with ceilings, cupboards and profiled wood decorated hamamxhik. This house represents a special kind of Balkan civic architecture.
