Close to the main post office, in the city of Gjilan, the house of Zekirja Abdullahu is located. The house dates from the end of the 19th century, and it had and still has the housing function. The house has the ground floor and the first floor, where every environment has a certain function. On both floors are residential rooms. The construction belongs to traditional home type with Albanian-citizen style. Construction is carried out with stones, mud-bricks and wood. This home is among the most beautiful houses of the city of Gjilan which has a unique architecture. According to information obtained by the elderly, Mr. Zekirja Abdullahu, the current owner of the house, finds that the house belonged to kajmekam of Gjilan. Later in that house resided kadi of Gjilan, Mulla Mehmet. After the occupation of Kosovo by Serbia in 1912, the house was occupied by a Serbian family. They say that from that Serbian family which today is unknown to the public, the house was bought by Zija Behluli - Pasuli, kames of time. Whereas Bajram Abdullahu, father of Zekirja Abdullahu, has bought this house in 1968 by the family Behluli. The house, as a whole, represents the developed value of Albanian and Islamic culture at the same time. It has the half ground floor and the first floor above. On the ground floor there is a hallway and two rooms aside, as well as stairs to the first floor. Rooms are used living room of family, while its ceiling of beams (7 on left room and 8 in the second room on the right) painted and stand out from the surface, as well as original windows and door of the room provide a high level of work in wood carving. The floor has suffered changes. Now there is no regular form of rooms. In total there are three of them. Two of them are decorated, while the one located to the south side, or on the back of the house is longer than the other two, and ends with an eastward extension curve. Earlier, also in the back of the house there were two rooms, but apparently it has been intervened there, issuing a sanitary nods needed for the time by one room. The central part of the floor is extracted in console form, by forming a corner. The interior of the house is worked with a special care, where is worth noting the ceiling of corner worked in wood carving in shape of rosette with eight corners. Ceiling elements have different geometric shapes, square or triangular and have decorations of floral motifs. The space between wood elements and around rosette is painted in blue, red and ocher, also with floral decorations. On the ceiling, an inscription in old Turkish language is preserved which marks the year in 1302 according to Hijra, corresponding to 1884 according to the Gregorian calendar. Decoration rich of wood carving with floral motifs continue on the walls of the corner. All floor rooms have chimneys on them, which start from the floor. The interior is rich of cabinets placed on the walls - jyklyk, with wooden lids decorated with wood carving. Certainly a small sofa is also important, which is very comfortable for the time being. Sofa has ceiling decorated with paintings and works engraved in wood, with different forms, where the diverse rib triangle dominates. This home is one of the most characteristic houses dating from the XIX century, preserved in original condition, and as such has high architectural, historical and social value.
