History

The Topanica fortress is situated around 50 meters north on the left side of the Topanica-Domorovc road. The fortress is located at the site place known by the name ‘Te Popovca’. According to the earlier given data, during agricultural works, from time to time remains like bones, tiles, bricks, pottery, etc, were unearthed by the local farmers. Nonetheless, this fortification is set only 100 meters west from other smaller fort of ‘Gradevcit’ of Topanica, a multilayer archaeological site. Also the fort communicates visually with other smaller forts like Gradevci i Hodonocit and the Gradevci i Domorocit, located east and southeast from this fortress. All above mentioned small forts set close one to the other served for the surveillance of the vicinal roads and because of the dominant visual wide range view were constructed above these roads.
