History

The building is located in the centre of the town, opposite the Municipality Building in Gjakova. It was built in 1810 by Sina family. One floor building g+1. The ground floor was used as a warehouse, while the upper floor for residential purposes. The residential part consists of four rooms and two balconies. Building materials used are bricks, stone and wood. The large room, located to the left is particularly prominent for its elaborate decoration and fireplaces with their furnaces located in all four rooms. The corridor separates rooms creating a cross plan. The house has been altered through time. The front originally contained two guest rooms and a stable with granary for animal food. The house also had an outdoor kitchen in the ground floor, whereas the floor above contained two ancillary buildings located behind the house but have since been demolished. In 1918 the house was sold by its owners and moved to the ownership of Haxhi Osman Boshnjaku. Municipality of Gjakova through a contract with the owners converted the house into ethnographical museum in view of its architectural values and popular art of the building.
