History

The house of Muhamer Shabani is located in the village Perlepnicë, municipality of Gjilan. The house was built in the last decade of the XIX century. precisely in 1880. It is situated on flat area, and has historical, architectural, artistic and aesthetic values. It has a character of family residential building that itself maintains the Albanian elements. According to the family, the house was built by Shaban Aga,the great-grandfather of Muhamer, who was the son of Ahmet that during the Ottoman ruling had served as sipahi. The house was built by 5 or 6 masters, who were from Vrajë. The house has a rectangular base and has two floors: the ground floor and the top floor. The walls are built of stone, wood and earth-bricks. The ground floor is built with stones and horizontal beams as reinforcement for walls. The roof of the house is hipped. The gate of the house was originally located inside the house, while the door that is now installed, it is not original. The vertical linking between floors is done with the help of internal stairs. Barns for animals were on the ground floor, and a room that has served to preserving ofdairy, which had the entrance with the upper part in the form of broken arc with tiles. Due to the family needs "the fire house" which was located on the top floor is moved to the ground floor, and had the chimney built, which was not previously. The entire interior space is lightened by windows located on the left and on the right of the ground floor entrance gate. The floor of the house, in its compositional scheme, has a hallway and four rooms. One of them served as "fire house", and one as "guest-house". Their interior is distinguished by ceilings, shelves, windows, hammams (baths) which are on the inside of shelves, then chimneys and windows of that time maintained in pretty good order. All of these are designed cleverly and artistically, with decorations in the wooden processed elements. In the floor, in the front part of the house, there is an opened balcony that gets out, which is quite maintained and contains all the original elements except fir the door. The balcony is characterized by wooden work and has three simple pillars of rectangular shape. Although this house at various times has undergone renovations, the original building has not changed. Today, the owner Muhamer Shabani, has almost returned the house to the original the condition
