History

The stone mansion of syle-rexhaj’s – Vranoc, Peja The stone mansion of Syle Rexha is located in the centre of the village Vranoc. A XVIII century stone mansion, it is two flatted and carried out with stone from river and corners made of hewn stones constructed by national craftsmen form Dibra and craftsmen for Syle Rexha family. The stone mansion belongs to the “dyshekllëk” open gallery type that stretches across the entire forehead and partially in the two side walls. A characteristic of this mansion was the high degree of stone ornamenting. From the functional view, the mansion has three levels with functions in the order: the barn, the family rooms and at the top the men’s room “guest-room” The mansion is also characterized by a clear compositional articulation, respectively the curved openings of different sizes for lighting grow continuously and they are repeated as to the inner functional scheme. Externally from the contour of the mansion are only the open gallery “dyshekllëku” and the stone closet, which appear as two balanced elements. The building was burned in the 1998/99 war and the restoration was done from 2006-2009. In order to accommodate the needs of modern living, the mansion has undergone changes in the internal organizing. The mansion is now in good condition and it is used for residential purposes.
