History

Myftiu family house is located in Zone of Historic Centre in Prizren, with the front oriented towards the east. Within the house there is a yard, an old house that once served as housing for family servants, barns and Jazi area. Near the house are Emin Pasha and Gazi Mehmet Pasha Mosque. The house was built in the XIX century, namely in 1859 and served for housing all the time. The house has rectangular layout of symmetrical shape, built in a single floor. It's located at the end of the backyard and access can be made through the open porch. In the interior, the house retains original elements and objects of the time. Immovable devices: walled Stove/ chimney / for heating rooms, ceilings with rosettes adorned with stylized motifs of floral and geometric shape, small cupboards inserted in the wall with niche ornaments, old style shelves, stairs with wooden “trabozane”, decorative beams etc. Movable devices: wooden and wattle knitted food table, tpini, bud, wooden washtub, 2 wooden crates, cradle painted with different motifs, bowl, copper bowl and kettle, pelvis and kettle of brass, carpet etc. The yard garden is arranged in the front and back of the house. Today the house is still habitable. It has architectural and artistic value both in the exterior, and the interior. In exterior there is a decorated facade, and in the interior attics and rosette ornate, as well as small wall cupboards, old style shelves, bathroom, decorative beams etc.
