Specifics of the Peja Region (Cultural Heritage)

The Region of Peja includes Municipalities of Junik, Deçan, and Istog. These municipalities are rich in archeological and architectural heritage, which are protected and preserved since ancient times and indicate characteristics closely linked with history, landscapes formations and local materials. This region also contains examples of movable heritage in various areas, as well as spiritual heritage, related to the local specifics of the daily life and is an indication of the culture, history and tradition of this region.
The region of Peja has identified 856 monuments of cultural and natural heritage, of which 29 are archeological sites, 74 sacral monuments, 736 monuments of profane and utilitarian nature, 7 movable heritage exhibits, 10 examples of spiritual heritage, 1 historical event, 7 natural landscapes and 6 trees.
