History

Bërlajolli family house is located in the western part of the city, in the Saraj neighbourhood. It was built in the XIX century and served for housing at all times. Nearby the Saraj there are the houses of Saraj, the town’s first post office and two traditional houses. . Foundations, the walls of the ground floor and basement are built of stone. Floor walls are built with bondruck system filled with mud, linked with clay mortar, with holder wall thickness up to 65 cm whilst partition walls are up to 20 cm. Constructions between and roof are made of wooden beam. The roof is two guttered covered with new tiles, where Badza is located. The roof structure is made of wood. Doors and windows are wooden. The house has rectangular layout. It is two-story, built in asymmetric form. Access to the house is enabled from the street through wooden door. It can be entered into the house from closed portico. In porch and rooms are fixed furniture: attics, cupboards, old style wardrobe cabinets, shelves and stacks, as well as copper dishes. Within the house, there is a yard and ‘mutfak’- open kitchen. Today the house is still habitable. It is in stable condition, while mutfak (open kitchen) is not.
