History

The building of the primary school "Elena Gjika" is located at the corner connecting the street "Zejnel Salihu" and former "Emin Duraku", stretching to the boundaries of the historic area of the city of Pristina. Elementary School "Elena Gjika" was built in the early 20th century with an influenced style by the architecture of the Austro-Hungarian. It is built in a traditional way with the massive construction system. The combination of square and circular openings in the facade makes this building special in this urban space. The building has maintained its original size and volume, but on time it has also undergone changes: the replacement of old windows with new windows of plastic material is made in the facade, which have maintained the structural form and separation of the wings, as well as the roof reparation took place. The plastic decorations of the building are still preserved on its frontal facade. Since its construction and to nowadays, it has never changed its school function.
