History

In the village of Lluka e Epërme (Upper Lluka), in the centre of the village, next to the road, there is a school, the Meyteb of Tahir Effendi Lluka, built in the 19th century. The Village Meyteb was built by rural Albanian artisans in the 19th century, and looking at the construction style, it resembles to the Kulla’s respectively the fortified houses of Dukagjini area. The meyteb is built in a rustic technique, with opened portal, whereas the, windows and the corners of this edifice were constructed by the use of raw stones which differs it from the rest parts of the Meyteb. Mejtepi retains original condition, with some changes in later phase visible on the walls and as well on the plaster of the exterior facades. Besides architectural value, Meyteb possesses its historical importance for the Albanian people, because it was the first Albanian school in this area. Meyteb is in good condition. Meyteb located in the cadastral no. 61800, parcel no. 157.
