History

Stone Mansion „Kulla‟ of Nitaj family The stone mansion of Halil Kasapolli (current owner is Nitaj family) is located in the centre of the city of Peja, near the great masjid. This mansion belongs to the part of the guest house (konak) complex of Halil Kasapolli. The mansion was built by local craftsmen in the second half of the XIX century, and served as a guest room, therefore, it was called with the name of "the Oda of Halil Kasapolli." The mansion has square base and belongs to the one floored mansion type with stone paving that emerges from the southeast corner of the building. The mansion is made of natural hewn and river stone linked with limestone mortar. The ground floor served as a horse stable where the guardian alcove was as well, whereas in the upper floor was the men’s guest room (oda) with paving. In the original condition, the mansion did not have openings on the ground floor, but after the interventions of the ninth decade of the XX century, when the mansion was turned into a business function, in order to adapt to the new function two big and two small curved windows were opened. Now floor of the mansion is used for residential purposes whereas the ground floor is a restaurant.
