History

The house is part of the overall urban “Çarshija e Madhe” (Grand Charshiya) complexity and it was built in XIX century. This house is typical urban style built by the wealthy individuals that time and served for housing, having the purpose today. Storey-height is P + 1, where the ground floor is built of hewn stones, floors built of baked bricks set in lime mortar with fugue. The roof consists of wood construction is covered with traditional tiles – red tiles. Entrance to the house is through a door whose frame is made of arc shaped carved stones on the part over the door. Facade is characterised by the porch of closed type, which is located above the entrance door, at same time creating a shelter protecting the entry of atmospheric precipitations and windows which are placed in sequence (one after another) in the same form as on the ground floor. The windows are made of wood and creating an arc shape above by the baked bricks placed on the side. Further on, it is worth mentioning that the end of the facade is highlighted by the ending with Sims, where the bricks are placed in a “wolf tooth” type. Regarding the construction, the foundations of the premise are made of stone walls on the ground floor whilst the floors are from the baked brick material. Constructions within interstitial space is made of oak wood beams as well as roof is made of oak and chestnut wood. Floors on the ground floor and floors are made of wood decks t = 5cm. attics of the floor are simple (visible beams and wood decks). The central alcove represents the guests’ chamber on the floor which is distinguished with numerous decorative elements made of wood as the attic, cupboards, cabinets, stairs etc. In the ground floor on the right side of the main entrance, there were unprofessional interventions made in which original windows were replaced with modern-type windows. Another intervention that damaged the original appearance of the premise is the guest’s chamber where the cupboards were painted in white. During 2013-2014, the premise as subject to conservation works - restoration where the house’s original appearance has been restored.
