History

The Haxhi Zeka Kulla (stone fortified house) in the village of Leshan, is an architectural construction with cultural-historical values and was built by Haxhi Zeka, a famous and well known illuminator. Construction was conducted on the second part of the 19th century. It served for the needs of the Haxhi Zeka family. It's two floor fortified house, with the intertwined elements of urban and rural architecture. This architectonic synthesis of elements is visible at the outdoor and indoor of the building. Kulla is typical for variation of the Kullas with stone floor which emerges from the perimetric wall at south east side corner. Open balcony is characteristic feature of this stone construction which emerges from the south facade perimetric wall. The interior of the house has a wooden carved decorated ceiling. As material for the construction of this Kulla were used: bricks and tiles, stones, wood, whereas, as a binding material lime mortar was used. This Kulla went through several transformations and it's lost its authenticity. Kulla was restored in 2009.
