History

Sinan Tekke complex is located in the south-west of Prizren, in the Terzinje neighbourhood. Sinan Order Tekke was founded by Mullah Ali Efendi Recep Koro in 1768, while his followers were Mullah Mahmud, Mullah Ali, Mullah Gani, Mullah Hussein and Mullah Abdurrahim The complex covers an area of 22 acres, where the ruins are located in the western part of Tekke with Semahane - a prayer hall, porch and Mutfak - cuisine, while in the eastern side is the old Tomb and graves with inscriptions in the Ottoman language. In the eastern part of the complex, the old cemetery Mullahs and dervishes are located, and some important historical figures from the Ottoman period, as the tomb of Malkoç Baba - commander of the Ottoman army during the XVI century Mehmet Efendi's tomb which is supposed to be the first founder of the Tekke. Tomb has rectangular layout, on the eastern wall is situated well of river stones made of circular layout. Characteristic of this well is that half the base is within the tomb while the other half is outside. Tomb has a simple handling of the facades except the north-western corner which is handled with a sculptural work with geometric shapes in the scalable form. Old Cemetery has Ottoman inscriptions carved into marble stone of various shapes. Inscriptions are made by artistic craftsmanship, in Sulus and Talik style. After the death of Mullah Abdyrrahman at the end of the century XX, this complex has lost its function as Tekke of believers of Sinani order. Due to lack of function and maintenance, the complex is in very poor physical condition.
